OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
GUNS: Good going, Gaines
As a life-long resident of Coeur d’Alene, I would like to thank Mr. J.D. Gaines for his “My Turn” comments regarding Sholeh Patrick’s column about American gun ownership. As a former Press carrier, I would also lik…
MOBILES: An option for homeless
With so many homeless in our area it makes absolutely no sense to tear up perfectly good housing to make room for commercial property. Mobile homes built before 1976 must be rebuilt to meet present codes. Without t…
BUSES: Drivers are well-prepared
I have been a school bus driver for over 10 years, and when I came to drive a bus I knew I was amongst like minded people who cared about the safety of your child as much as I do.
DEBT: Turning into Third World
How could our every state representative and every state senator through the last 12 years let this wonderful country get into such a mess. When Zippergate Clinton was president there was no national debt. Why?
PLAY: 'K2' a slick production
The Lake City Playhouse is serving us all a treat with Patrick Meyers’ play, “K2.” The K2 Expedition Team members, movingly performed by Todd Kehne and George Green, reminded me of 3 things:
SPENDING: Vote out 'deadbeats'
In light of the growing problems with our federal government, I think it’s time to throw many of our elected officials out of office and charge them with malpractice. Many of them are not there for the good of the …
CANCER: Progress made vs. pancreatic
President Barack Obama made history in the fight against pancreatic cancer by signing into law the Recalcitrant Cancer Research Act, formerly known as the Pancreatic Cancer Research and Education Act. Thanks to the…

PLOWS: Kudos for job well done
Giving a BIG shout out to all the snowplow drivers who so diligently and carefully plow our residential streets as well as city and highway. THANKS!

Welcome to 2013 — and what a mixed bag it already is. We’re either on our way to economic recovery or not; we’re either on our way to communism or not; we’re either on our way to universal, single payer health care…
GUNS: Deal with real problems
I am writing in response to Jim Spurr’s letter entitled “Don’t let the NRA bully you.” I agree with his statement that this is a monumental problem. However he then he goes on to give the most simplistic solution—b…
MORMON: Strength of faith's position
In the World Book Dictionary Volume 2 page 1672 under Protestant it states:
GUNS: Well-armed, no fear
Well America, here we go again. The liberals want some of our guns. After every tragedy we face this subject. I am an NRA member, and am proud of it. My guns have not killed anyone yet, and probably won’t. I am a v…
GUNS: Liberals are firing blanks
I don’t feel bullied by the NRA. I do feel bullied by liberals who believe they know what is “best” for us. Jim Spurr’s letter was not only NOT informative, it was inaccurate. The number of criminal deaths from gun…
