NIC VOLLEYBALL: Cards swept in conference home opener

COEUR d’ALENE — North Idaho College had its 10-match winning streak come to an end to fifth-ranked Salt Lake Community College in a 25-15, 25-15, 25-21 loss in Scenic West Athletic Conference play at Christianson Gymnasium on Friday. 

Brynlie Cornia, a freshman from Nibley, Utah, had eight kills for NIC (16-5, 2-1 SWAC), which swept Truckee Meadows of Reno, Nev., to open conference play last weekend. Zoe Galbreath, a freshman from Ritzville, Wash., had 12 assists and freshman Mikayla Esquivel had five kills for NIC. 

Andie Thomas and Angelina Murase had eight kills each for Salt Lake (14-4, 2-1). 

The teams meet again today at 1 p.m.
