Coeur d'Alene Celtic Festival this weekend

The Coeur d'Alene Celtic Festival is scheduled this weekend at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.

The two-day celebration brings together centuries of Celtic heritage and modern festival energy, "creating an immersive experience for families, enthusiasts and music lovers alike," a press release said.

It will feature live Celtic music, Highland dance performances, storytelling sessions and Celtic games and athletic demonstrations inspired by ancient traditions. 

Guests can explore the Celtic Marketplace filled with Scottish, Irish and locally made goods, artisan crafts, cultural merchandise and festival favorites, and children can join the Kids Sword Arena.

Historical exhibits presented by Stirling Endeavors will also include "The Valley of the Kings — The Boyne," Jeremiah's Tomb and The Great Siege of 1689 in Londonderry, offering a journey through over 5,000 years of Irish and Scottish culture.

Emerald Tide brings the energy, beauty and enduring traditions of Irish music and dance to audiences through the artistry of Elizabeth Sunderman LaBrake and Dominic LaBrake.

"Elizabeth’s Irish dance and fiddle artistry and Dominic’s violin and fiddle musicianship come together in performances that celebrate the lively spirit of Celtic music while honoring the discipline, friendships, family connections, and cultural heritage behind it," the release said.

The Coeur d'Alene Celtic Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6 to 17, and free for kids 5 and younger.

Attendees are invited to dress in period-inspired or traditional Celtic attire.
