PREP ROUNDUP: Lake City tops Coeur d'Alene in four

COEUR d'ALENE — Senior Kate Moglia, who on Monday passed the 1,250 mark in career assists, had 48 assists, 16 digs and two aces as the host Lake City Timberwolves beat the Coeur d'Alene Vikings 25-15, 25-22, 18-25, 26-24 on Wednesday night. 

Camryn Woodman added 19 kills, nine digs and a block for Lake City (15-8, 1-1 6A IEL). Lexie Burns had 12 kills and a block, Sonia-Rei Fong 27 digs.  

"It was a special night across the board, celebrating Kate Moglia achieving 1,250 career assists," Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. "We showed up ready to compete and are improving in minimizing our errors in strings of points. CHS made some great adjustments and made it extremely challenging for us to close out the match. I love this team." 

For Coeur d'Alene (20-4, 0-2), Hannah Shafer had 25 digs and 20 assists, Marly Sutich 11 kills and four blocks, Jovie Le 11 kills and three blocks, Embree McKeown 32 digs, Emily Hackett 17 assists, Julianna Hasso two aces. 

“Early on, we struggled to close our block, and Lake City took advantage of that," Coeur d'Alene coach Carly Curtis said. "We continued to battle and served well, but fell short. Lake City played consistent defense throughout the match and kept firing back. We’ll learn from this, make adjustments and keep working to get better.” 

Coeur d'Alene hosts Lewis and Clark of Spokane tonight.

Lake City travels to Lewiston on Tuesday.

Bonners Ferry 

KELLOGG — Senior Paige Yrjana had 12 kills and 12 digs for the Wildcats in a 25-12, 25-16, 25-8 win over the Badgers at Andrews Gymnasium. 

"It was a great all-around team effort tonight," Kellogg coach Hollie Yrjana said.  

Sophomore Gretah Angle had 13 kills and six aces, junior Ella Yrjana 25 assists, junior Hadley Bush five blocks and sophomore Lane Smith three blocks for Kellogg (9-0), which competes in the Sheridan-Welch Crossover Tournament this weekend in Spokane. 

Bonners Ferry is 4-5.

COEUR d'ALENE — Junior Blake Baune had two goals and an assist for the Vikings in a nonleague win over the Bears at Coeur d'Alene High. 

Senior Grant Johnson had three saves for Coeur d'Alene (10-0), which scored five unanswered goals. 

"Moscow had a big win over Lake City and they're just as capable of upsetting us," Coeur d'Alene coach Robbie Harmelink said. "We wanted to control the possession and pick our spots, and we did a better job of that after the Moscow goal." 

Coeur d'Alene hosts Sandpoint on Saturday. 

Moscow is 4-8.
