PREP ROUNDUP: Wyatt leads Vikings boys to win at Lewiston

LEWISTON — Junior Rowan Wyatt had two goals and two assists for Coeur d'Alene in a 9-0 win over the Lewiston Bengals at the P1FCU Sports Complex at Lewiston High in Lewiston Orchards on Tuesday. 

"We were efficient in our attacks," Coeur d'Alene coach Robbie Harmelink said. "We found ourselves playing a lot better in finding the final shot and finishing our chances on frame. We were also varied in our attack, which was nice to see." 

Senior Brett Johnson had two goals for Coeur d'Alene (9-0), which hosts Moscow today on the Coeur d'Alene High Soccer Field. The game was moved up due to a shortage of bus drivers for Moscow. 

Lewiston is 3-7.

BONNERS FERRY — Junior Luke Blasick had two saves for the Panthers in an Intermountain League shutout of the Badgers at Bonners Ferry High. 

"Good game for our team," Coeur d'Alene Charter coach Craig Daigle said. "We took control early with a great crossing pass from Taylor Smith that found Brooks Judd at the back of the net. We were able to dominate time of possession in the second half and score twice off corners." 

Coeur d'Alene Charter (8-2-1, 7-0-0 IML) faces Grangeville on Saturday at The Fields in Post Falls.

BONNERS FERRY — The Panthers (7-3-1, 7-2-1 IML) lost to the Badgers (8-4, 8-3) for the first time in program history, which began in 2013. 

"This is definitely the tale of two halves," Coeur d'Alene Charter coach Stacy Smith said. "We didn't show up to play soccer in the first half. We started the game with three starters out for illness, injury and a red card. We struggled mentally moving past that. It's like we'd forgotten some of the fundamentals of the game. Hats off to Bonners Ferry. They capitalized on what we gave them in the half and scored three pretty easy goals. We adjusted at the half and just talked about not worrying about the score, but winning the half. We had more opportunities in the front of the net second half, possessed the ball better, we defended better and were just a different team. I'm not pleased with what we showed up with, but I'm certainly proud of how we finished."

Lakeland (2-5-3) faces Sandpoint at the Field of Dreams in Ponderay on Thursday.

BONNERS FERRY — Post Falls junior Angelique Averette won the girls race at the Bonners Ferry Invitational, finishing in 22 minutes, 45 seconds at Bonners Ferry High. 

Priest River senior Daniel Gunkle won the boys race in 18:54.
