PREP ROUNDUP: Coeur d'Alene competes in Woodbridge Invitational

IRVINE, Calif. — Coeur d’Alene senior Wyatt Carr finished 40th out of 273 in the Doug Speck Sweepstakes race at the Woodbridge Invitational at Great Park on Saturday night.
Carr finished in 14 minutes, 20.6 seconds for the Viking boys, who finished 18th out of 37 teams.
Junior Rowan Henry (64th in 14:34.9), junior Blaise Howard (92nd in 14:48.4), junior Wyatt Morgenstern (158th in 15:09.7), senior Gabriel Heule (195th in 15:23.1) and freshman Cody Morganstern (201st in 15:24.2) also competed for Coeur d’Alene in the race.
Coeur d’Alene junior Anna Christman was fourth out of 101 in the girls Rated Varsity race, finishing in 16:47.7 to lead the Vikings to a third-place finish out of 36 teams. Clovis North High of Woodward Park, Calif., won the girls team title.
Coeur d’Alene sophomore Victoria Howard was 10th in 17:21.2, freshman Jordyn Coy 51st in 17:42.7, and Brooklyn Caywood 98th in 18:15.2.

Mountain West Classic
MISSOULA, Mont. — Lakeland High senior Frank McCarthy was the top local boys finisher at the Mountain West Classic at the University of Montana Golf Course, finishing 65th out of 461 competitors in 17 minutes, 18.7. seconds.
Post Falls junior Dorothy Pope was 68th out of 421 in the girls race in 20:39.
Helena, Mont., won the 82-team girls meet title and Bozeman, Mont., won the 86-team boys meet.

TILLAMOOK, Ore. — Timberlake senior Lola Eggleston was fifth out of 123 competitors in the girls varsity elite race, finishing in 17 minutes, 51.55 seconds at The Mook Invitational at Alderbrook Golf Course.
Timberlake senior Jonathan Barnhart was 25th in the boys varsity elite race in 15:55.80 and senior Caleb Royce 30th in 16:10.20. There was 146 competitors in the varsity boys elite race.
Timberlake senior Kayla Hyle was 39th in the girls varsity gold race in 20:36.50.
Lake City's Reade wins
at MacDowell Invitational
LEWISTON — Lake City High senior Samuel Reade won the Les MacDowell Invitational at the Lewis-Clark State Course in Lewiston Orchards, finishing in 15 minutes, 47 seconds to lead the Timberwolves to the boys team title.
Freshman Boston Anderson was fifth, sophomore Kilen Keon eighth for Lake City, which finished with 42 points.
Sophomore Finn Scarborough was sixth, sophomore Andrew Grady seventh for Coeur d’Alene, which was second with 55 points.
Lake City senior Madison Zimmerman was the top local finisher in the girls race, taking sixth in 20:19. Junior Violet Hernandez was ninth for the Timberwolves, who finished runner-up with 45 points.

Post Falls at ThunderBee tournament
IDAHO FALLS — Post Falls won five of seven matches and advanced to the top bracket before bowing out at the ThunderBee tournament.
In pool play Friday at Thunder Ridge High, Post Falls beat Vallivue 25-15, 25-15, Sugar-Salem 25-19, 25-11 and Pocatello 25-23, 25-21.
In pool play Saturday at Thunder Ridge, Post Falls beat Lake City 25-19, 25-20 and Evanston (Wyo.) 25-19, 25-18, and lost to Idaho Falls 25-22, 18-25, 15-13.
In the eight-team Gold Bracket at Bonneville High, Post Falls lost to Hillcrest 25-16, 23-25, 22-20.
Peyton Barclift had 75 kills and 63 digs in the seven matches for Post Falls (12-3). Teresa Smith added 46 kills and 58 digs, Lucy Carr 107 assists, Lucy Smith 76 assists and seven aces, Annabelle Tucker 10 blocks and five aces, Rylie Gump seven blocks.
“It was an incredible weekend of volleyball, and every single player on our roster stepped up to contribute to our success,” Post Falls coach Casey Cornett said. “Finishing 5-2 with five clean sweeps — and dropping two third-set heartbreakers by just two points — showed the true grit and depth of this group. We’re excited to carry that confidence back into league play, but beyond the stats and athleticism, I am most proud of who these girls are. They work tirelessly, genuinely celebrate one another’s success, and remain phenomenal teammates through every single point. We are truly so lucky to coach and be surrounded by such an exceptional group of young women.”

Lake City at ThunderBee tournament
IDAHO FALLS — The Timberwolves went 2-4 on the day, and finished second in the Silver Bracket to conclude play at the ThunderBee tourney at Thunder Ridge High.
In pool play Saturday morning, Lake City lost to 6A Inland Empire League foe Post Falls 25-19, 25-20, lost to Idaho Falls 25-8, 25-19 and lost to Evanston (Wyo.) 25-20, 23-25, 16-14.
In Silver Bracket play, Lake City beat Butte County 25-12, 25-20 and Malad 25-18, 25-22, before falling to Kimberly 26-16, 27-29, 15-12 in the tile match.
Camryn Woodman finished with 60 kills, 49 digs, six aces and two blocks on the day for Lake City (13-8). Ella Jeanselme added 31 kills, 36 digs and six aces; Kate Moglia 123 assists, six killsand six aces; Sonia Rei-Fong 94 digs.
“We found some fight in the afternoon, and proud of how we stuck together through some unforeseen obstacles,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “Tournaments expose blind spots but the silver lining is that we can get right back to work next week.”
Lake City plays host to Freeman on Monday.
