Altar Church hosts Neighborhood Rib-Fest

| September 10, 2026 1:00 AM

Timothy Scott of Solid Ground Ministry is collaborating with Altar Church to organize a community barbecue dinner Friday, featuring two different kinds of ribs and traditional side dishes. The Neighborhood Rib-Fest invites everyone to meet members of different ministries, including Solid Ground and Open Arms, while enjoying a free barbecue dinner.

“We told everyone to invite their family and friends,” Scott said. “We look forward to feeding them.”

Everyone is invited to contribute pre-cooked ribs or classic barbecue side dishes like baked beans, potato salad, and coleslaw. Scott said the Rib-Fest is an outreach and community-building opportunity for the church. He hopes to provide a friendly, welcoming atmosphere to celebrate the end of summer.

Word of the event is spreading quickly, and Scott expects at least 100 attendees. The event will be held in the North parking lot of Altar Church, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
