Rehabilitation Hospital of the Northwest expands

| September 3, 2026 1:00 AM

Rehabilitation Hospital of the Northwest recently completed facility enhancements that increased its capacity to 70 private patient rooms.

The medical rehabilitation hospital provides specialized rehabilitative care to individuals recovering from disabilities caused by injuries, illnesses, or chronic medical conditions.

“The expansion of rehabilitative beds demonstrates Ernest Health’s continued commitment to the region in meeting a growing demand for this level of specialized care,” said Jake Socha, president and CEO of Ernest Health. “As more patients require inpatient rehabilitation, these beds will allow us to care for additional people close to their homes, ensuring they receive the high-quality, specialized care they deserve.”

Previously, Rehabilitation Hospital of the Northwest operated with 30 beds, limiting its ability to accommodate the increasing number of patient referrals. With these additional beds, the hospital will expand its geographic reach to ensure more patients can access rehabilitation services through its east and west building locations, a press release said.

“Our expanded capacity will allow us to care for more patients with complex medical and rehabilitation needs,” said Sara Ambrose, CEO of Rehabilitation Hospital of the Northwest. “We are committed to providing exceptional, individualized rehabilitation that helps patients maximize their recoveries, regain independence, and return to the quality of life they value.”

In addition to facility enhancements, the hospital provides cutting-edge technology, including innovative gait training for patients with neurological and mobility impairments.

A physician leads services at Rehabilitation Hospital of the Northwest, and an interdisciplinary healthcare team delivers them.

The hospital’s East and West buildings each feature a therapy gym equipped with the latest rehabilitative technology and equipment, a heated aquatic therapy pool with an electric lift, a therapeutic courtyard, and an activities of daily living suite and transitional suite that allow patients to practice daily, at-home activities. At the same time, under the supervision of a healthcare professional, the release said.

“We’re pleased to expand our capacity to care for patients in Post Falls and the surrounding areas,” said Dave Cox, vice president of West Operations for Ernest Health. “Our goal is to help each patient achieve the best possible recovery and regain as much independence as possible. These additional beds and resources will allow us to extend our specialized rehabilitative services to more patients, helping them receive the care they need close to home and near their families and support systems during treatments.”
