Patricia J. Turner, 84

| October 25, 2026 1:00 AM

Patricia Joy Carlberg was born in Deer River, Minn., to Irene and Glenn Carlberg.

Her family moved to Coeur d’Alene when she was an infant. She grew up in Coeur d'Alene and met her loving husband, Bill Turner, when they were in High School, and they were inseparable from that moment on.

Together they created a cherished family and many strong friendships along the way. Pat worked (volunteered) at the local schools when her children were young and later worked at Louisiana Pacific Corporation as Industrial Claims Manager for the six Western States.

As their children left the nest, she and Bill started their next chapter. She became an avid golfer at Avondale and with her unique swing, she was one of the longest drivers at the club. The two of them also discovered the freedom of exploring the country in their Motorhome. They made two trips cross-country to explore the East Coast. They eventually made their way to Arizona and found a winter home away from home that they enjoyed for almost 30 years.

Her husband Bill was a songwriter and musician, and he encouraged her to join him in playing music. He taught her how to play the bass and they formed a very popular band named Northwind in Arizona. They also formed a local band here in Coeur d'Alene named The Blue Country Band. She mentioned many times how much joy playing music at her husband's side brought her.

Through their music ventures, their time in Arizona and lifelong roots here in Coeur d'Alene, they encountered an immense number of cherished friends and music fans. Pat was always smiling and finding the best in people. She had a quick wit and could always make you laugh. She loved to play cards and games. Her competitiveness in those brought about many laughs and memories. Pat loved flowers and her beautiful yard was in the local Garden Tour. She found joy in life surrounded by loving family and friends.

Patricia (Pat) was a much-loved wife, mother, grama and great-grama. She leaves behind her loving husband, Bill, of 63 years; her two children, Tracey (Jeff) and Steve (Cammy); along with her five grandchildren, Casey (Sammy) and Chantelle (Casey K), who live locally, and Curt (Sarah), Terri (Chad) and Todd (Anna); and nine great-grandchildren.

Pat passed peacefully at home with her husband and two children at her side. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. To her husband, Bill, she will forever be “The Wind Beneath My Wings.”

A Celebration of Life/Open House will be held at her family home Saturday, Nov. 14, from 1 to 5 p.m. Our family wants to thank Hospice of North Idaho for their help and support through our loss and ask anyone who wishes to make a donation to that wonderful organization.
