A Coeur d'Alene man was sentenced to a unified 20-year prison sentence with parole eligibility after five years after a conviction on five counts of sexual exploitation of children by possession of sexually exploitative material.

Evan Landen Swope, 22, was sentenced Monday by District Judge Regina McCrea, according to the Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

A press release said that in December officers began investigating a Cybertip indicating Swope was accessing child pornography. After obtaining search warrants, officers searched Swope’s computers and cell phones and located evidence indicating Swope had possessed numerous videos depicting child pornography and intentionally saved and stored many of the videos.

Several of the videos possessed by Swope depicted violent sexual abuse against children, including infants and toddlers, the release said.

Possession of child pornography is a felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
