Michael 'Mike' Morris, 68

Michael “Mike” Morris, age 68, of Chilco, Idaho, passed away peacefully on the morning of Oct. 17, 2026. Mike was born Sept. 6, 1958, in Sweet Home, Ore., and was raised in Coeur d’Alene, where he married and raised two boys. 

He worked for over 40 years driving the tugboats on Coeur d’Alene Lake. He hauled logs to the mills and repainted the tugs in the off-season. In his final years, he ran the tugboat that pushed barges, drove piles, and did dock work for North Idaho Maritime on Coeur d’Alene Lake.

Mike enjoyed woodworking, sawmilling, gardening, canning, huckleberry picking, slot car racing, and the occasional trips to the casino with family and friends. He was helpful to those around him — whether it was helping with road improvements, planting a garden, or helping to get firewood. He will be truly missed by all of his family and friends.

Mike is survived by his mother, two sons, three granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter.
