North Idaho high schoolers invited to take part in Oratorical contest

POST FALLS — American Legion Steven H. Nipp Post 143 invites North Idaho high school students in grades 9–12 to compete in the 2027 American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Contest on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2027, at Post 143, 1138 E. Poleline Ave., Post Falls. The contest begins at 9 a.m.

Students will deliver speeches on the U.S. Constitution, with winners advancing through district and state competitions for opportunities to earn college scholarships, including national awards of up to $25,000.

Post 143 will award $500, $300 and $200 to the top three local contestants.
