A child was pronounced dead after being found unconscious at a Coeur d’Alene hotel.

At about 12:15 p.m. Monday, the Coeur d’Alene Police Department responded to a report of the 7-old-year boy unresponsive and not breathing at the Quality Inn, located in the 200 block of W. Appleway Avenue.

The Coeur d’Alene Police Department said in a Tuesday news release that that emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures but were unable to revive him. Coeur d’Alene Police Detectives were subsequently called to investigate.

“At this time, the child did not appear to have any obvious signs of trauma, and no significant medical conditions were immediately known,” according to the news release. “Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death and are working to determine the cause and manner of death.”

The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
