BOISE — The bounce the Post Falls football team has been searching for arrived with 1:51 remaining in game eight of the season at Dona Larsen Park on Friday.
Post Falls senior defensive lineman Cash Preston recovered a fumbled snap with 1:51 remaining at the Timberline 28-yard line, and junior Kason Foreman scored less than a minute later on a 1-yard run as the Trojans rallied to beat the Wolves.
“That really gave us new life,” Post Falls coach Blaine Bennett said of Preston’s recovery. “We wanted to make sure we went down and scored, and just weren’t going to settle for a field goal.”
Senior Kyson Ostlund scored on a 74-yard pass from senior Philip Schmitt early in the third quarter to give Post Falls a 21-14 lead. Timberlake took a 22-21 lead after the third quarter.
Foreman scored on a 1-yard run early in the fourth quarter to give Post Falls a 27-22 lead.
“Kason did a great job for us tonight,” Bennett said. “We played him a little bit at linebacker last week (at Lake City), but kept him on offense this week. And he was able to run the ball hard in the fourth quarter. We’ve struggled trying to find that ‘W’ and had a great trip down here. The kids really responded well and it was nice to get that win.”
Timberline took a 28-27 lead with 7:21 remaining but was called for unsportsmanlike conduct and had the conversion pushed back to the 18-yard line. Timberline threw an incomplete pass on the conversion.

Next Friday, Lakeland (4-4) hosts Sandpoint, which fell to visiting Lewiston 42-35 at Barlow Stadium on Friday. A Lakeland win clinches the 5A Inland Empire League title. If Sandpoint wins, the three teams will play in a Kansas tiebreaker for the second straight year.
Sophomores Taytum Bligh and Madden Young also scored touchdowns for Lakeland.
“We’re a mixture of younger and older players,” Schroeder said. “With some younger players, it’s taken a while to execute what we want. But we’ve gotten better at it.”
