North Idaho College President Nick Swayne will share practical advice on applying to college at a free event for high school students and families, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Coeur d’Alene High School Media Center, 5530 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene.

The event, presented by North Idaho College and Coeur d’Alene Public Schools, will cover ways students can strengthen their applications, understand what colleges look for, and prepare for what comes next.

No registration is required. High school students and their families are welcome. Attendees should enter through the main entrance at Coeur d’Alene High School off Dalton Avenue.

“This is a great opportunity for students and families to get helpful, straightforward guidance about the college application process,” Coeur d’Alene Public Schools Superintendent Shon Hocker said. “There are a lot of questions that come with planning for college. This will give students a chance to hear practical advice, ask questions and leave feeling more confident about the next step.”

Swayne, who has more than 20 years of university leadership experience, said the event will also help families understand their options and the support available once students enroll.

“This event will give families a chance to get real help with the college application process,” Swayne said. “We want students to understand their options, take the next step with confidence and know that through the NIC Guarantee, we’ll continue supporting them after they enroll.”
