TOEWS: Housing market a sick joke

| October 11, 2026 1:00 AM

At the meeting at the Coeur d’Alene Inn on Wednesday, October 7, State Senator Ben Toews was quoted as stating that the next generation of Idahoans are either going to be homeowners, renters, or moving out of state. Well, duh! Oh, wait — there are the homeless. I guess he forgot them —  or did he? Along with his fellow Regressives (deduced from the “R” following their names), he probably doesn’t give a thought to that class of people.

Then State Senator Toews rounded out the quote by stating that “the market is the best way to solve these issues.” Hello? The “market” is the way we got into these “issues”! Depending on the “market” in a state which allows a $7.25 minimum wage (definitely not market-based) is a sick joke to those who are locked out due to the current housing “issues.”

We need better thinking from our elected representatives, but as long as the Regressives are in control, we won’t get it. Let’s do some housecleaning next month, shall we?
