| October 11, 2026 1:00 AM

Terry Gurno, Oct. 18, 1960 – Oct. 3, 2026

Terry Gurno passed away on Oct. 3, 2026, after a courageous four-year battle with stage 4 colon cancer. He was 65 years old.

Terry was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend, mentor, and man of faith. More than anything, he loved his family deeply and lived his life with a genuine desire to encourage, serve, and bring hope to the people around him.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gurno; his children, Chelsea Funk (Justin), Levi Gurno (Sarah), and Ali Klundt (Christian); his mother, Jean Morris; his sisters, Pam Ranch and Beth Koch; and his brother, Tom Gurno. He was preceded in death by his father, John Gurno; his stepfather, Keith Morris; and his brother, Tim Gurno.

Terry will be remembered as a beacon of hope to everyone who knew him. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, believed in, and encouraged. Whether through a conversation, a word of wisdom, a handwritten note, or simply showing up when someone needed him, Terry spent his life speaking life into others.

During the final years of his life, while fighting his own battle with cancer, Terry founded Unyielding Hope, a nonprofit organization created to help others find “strength for today, courage for tomorrow, and faith for the future.” To Terry, it was more than an organization. It reflected the way he chose to live. Even in the midst of tremendous adversity, he remained committed to giving hope away.

His faith was foundational to who he was. Terry loved Jesus, loved people, and believed that even in the hardest seasons, there was always reason to hope. He didn’t simply talk about that kind of faith; he lived it.

Terry was an inspiration to countless people, but to those closest to him, his greatest legacy will always be the way he loved. He loved his family fiercely. He believed in people relentlessly. He gave generously of his time, wisdom, and encouragement. And he made the people around him better simply because he was in their lives.

Though his life on earth has ended, the hope he carried, the faith he lived, and the lives he impacted will continue through every person who had the privilege of knowing him.

Terry’s life was a testament to the message he spent his final years sharing: Unyielding Hope.

The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Lake City Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Online condolences are available at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
