Michael Liscombe and Lauren Tuite, owners of Connected Family Chiropractic at 1801 Lincoln Way, Suite 1, in Coeur d'Alene, are committed to helping kids grow into healthy adults.

"The reason why we focus on families, young families, is because if we truly want to change our community for the better, it starts with the kids making sure that they're growing strong and healthy," Liscombe said. "We see that people are dealing with more unnatural stress than they ever have, and chiropractic is one of the best ways to be able to support the body naturally and get through the crazy life that we have nowadays."

Connected Family Chiropractic opened on Sept. 14 and will have its grand opening on Oct. 16.

Liscombe has been a chiropractor for the last three years; Tuite for the past two years. Both graduated from Parker University in Dallas, Texas and then practiced in the Netherlands.

"It was a really cool experience until we decided it's not home and we want to go find somewhere that feels like home," Tuite said. "I'm from Dallas and Mike is from South Calgary. Coeur d'Alene ended up being a nice little median and a place that seems like it would fit all our needs. We can see ourselves growing here and becoming part of the community."

Connected Family Chiropractic services focus on the spine and nervous system, using the latest technology available.

"Our impulse adjusting tool provides controlled mechanical thrusts that allow us to make very gentle specific adjustments on newborns to grandparents," Liscombe said. "Our insight CLA scans allow us to objectively look at how well the spine is functioning and how it is influencing the nervous system and all of the muscles in the spine as well."

They also offer post-treatment options.

"We have two different phases — corrective care and wellness care," Liscombe said. "We give people all the tools that they need not only to get well, but to stay well. That includes exercises that they can do on their own to be able to make sure that they get the best results."

Tuite said they emphasize proactive care over reactive care.

"It's a lot easier to keep somebody healthy than it is to dig them out of whatever hole that they've gotten in the first place and that varies from person to person," she said. "Obviously, if you have a traumatic injury, that's a different story than declining health over time."

Liscombe said chiropractic is a simple addition to someone's lifestyle that can be the difference between being on the tipping point of expressing health or disease.

"That's the spectrum of it. Everybody's body is built to be healthy — we're built to express health. But it depends on how much stressor is on us that will determine what level we express that," he said. "So, we're trying to help people to get on the positive side of health so that their body can do everything that it needs to do, that it can heal appropriately, and that we can maximize our quality of life."

Liscombe said the benefits of a healthy body are immeasurable.

"If you have a healthy body and a healthy nervous system, you're able to do more, to sleep better, have more energy during the day and be more attentive," he said. "That's why we love working with kids and young families because it's a very crucial stage of their lives and can make a world of difference health-wise as they grow older."

Connected Family Chiropractic is open Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m., and Tuesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
