LEVY: Vote yes for Cd’A schools!

| October 11, 2026 1:00 AM

As a former student, current parent and business and property owner in Cd’A, I know that a quality public school system benefits our whole community. We all know Idaho schools rank among the lowest in the country in state funding. The levy serves to give our community a voice in how to fund the difference between bare minimum and what is actually needed.

This replacement levy is NOT A NEW TAX. It has funded a significant portion of the budget for decades. Please visit the district website for a very transparent breakdown of how the money is spent. The levy supports over 300 teachers and staff, safety officers, classroom resources, technical education like KTEC, athletics, drama, music, shop and art programs.

School district 271 is facing rising costs just like the rest of us. Costs like insurance, utilities, and fuel continue to go up; let alone supplies, facilities, and staff. As a business owner, I can attest to how significantly staff costs have increased — even in the last two years, and educators deserve a living wage.

If you don’t use our public schools, please consider that a productive, safe community starts with productive, safe young people.

Education is so much more than test results. My kids come home from school with stories about funny science lab mishaps, homecoming dates, shop classes with the coolest projects, awesome coaches, crazy experiments, and even kind janitors and bus drivers. Those experiences matter, because they teach our kids to develop relationships, discover new interests and build confidence. This is what teaches our kids to be successful, kind adults, and that is worth investing in. Please vote yes for our schools!
