'Swan Lake' returns to Coeur d'Alene
The World Ballet Company’s production of "Swan Lake" is returning to Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday at the Schuler Performing Arts Center. It will be one of more than 80 performances on this popular production’s national tour.
"Swan Lake" follows Prince Siegfried as he meets Odette, a princess doomed to live as a swan by day under a sorcerer's spell. Though Prince Siegfried pledges his love and vows to break the curse, he is deceived by the sorcerer’s daughter, the mysterious Black Swan, leading to heartbreak and tragedy.
This production of Swan Lake features a live orchestra, giving audiences the chance to experience Tchaikovsky's iconic, technically demanding and emotionally charged score in real time.
“Our 'Swan Lake' combines the elegance of classical ballet with vivid, immersive storytelling,” said World Ballet Company co-founder Sasha Gorskaya. “It’s a magical experience for both ballet newcomers and longtime fans.”
Now in its fourth full season, World Ballet Company is committed to making ballet accessible and engaging for audiences in communities large and small across more than 40 U.S. states. Known for its cinematic staging, original choreography, and global roster of professional dancers, the company presents reimagined classics in more than 180 different cities each year.
“We believe ballet is for everyone, and the response from audiences nationwide has been incredible,” said producer and co-founder Gulya Hartwick. “'Swan Lake' is arguably the most iconic ballet ever created, and we’re thrilled to bring this majestic production to you.”
The performance of "Swan Lake" begins at 7 p.m. Ticket prices range from $57.33 to $130.96 and are available online at https://worldballetcompany.com/event/schuler-performing-arts-center-2/.
