Charter Academy presents 'Of Mice and Men'

| November 5, 2026 10:55 AM

Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy is presenting John Steinbeck’s "Of Mice and Men, " directed by theater teacher Dana Robinette.

"The students have worked tirelessly to bring this story to life," a press release said. "Don't miss the opportunity to experience this great work of American literature on stage while supporting live theatre in our community."

Set during the Great Depression, Steinbeck’s unforgettable characters explore the fruitless pursuit of the American Dream and mankind’s enduring struggle to find meaning, belonging, and human connection in an increasingly isolating world, the release said. These themes may be decades old, but in many ways, they feel more relevant than ever.

"Unlike Steinbeck’s characters, we are, for the time being, largely insulated from the harsh realities of an unforgiving physical world," Robinette said. "Yet spiritually, I believe many of us remain strangers in a strange land, searching for connection, purpose, and a place to belong."

Performances are scheduled at Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy today, Friday, and Saturday, at 7 p.m. with a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available at the door: $5 for students and $10 for general admission. Cash or check only.
