ICE: Only takes one to make it all worthwhile

Regarding Phil Ward’s letter of Oct. 30 about local law enforcement accepting money from ICE. I’m having a little trouble following his argument. He does admit there are people here who broke the law.

One reads almost daily of localities releasing those illegals with serious charges against them after ICE request a retainer. Is that right thing to do?

As Mr. Ward states, we can’t identify how many illegals are in our community. And those who are here commit very few crimes.

So what’s the problem taking ICE dollars if local police are taking money for hardly any illegals who commit very few crimes?

It only takes one murderer or rapist etc. held for ICE to make it all worthwhile.
