MOVING: Time to say goodbye to Cd’A
Hi Mayor Dan,
Writing to express my frustration with the cost of living here in Coeur d’Alene.
Personally, it has become unsustainable to continue living here after 54 years on Social Security Disability of $1,534/month.
I’ve seen many changes over this span of time. Coeur d’Alene is just too expensive for anyone on a fixed income.
The influx of out-of-staters who sold their properties for huge profits and brought those monies to Coeur d’Alene up until the early 2,000s have out purchased local property owners.
The results have made for sky rocketing rentals and real estate.
Coeur d’Alene has lost many long time residents due to the exorbitant pricing.
Me included. I’m moving to the Southern U.S.
I leave Coeur d’Alene as a former Coeur d’Alene High School graduate. My daughter was born here. And with all that many memories of going grouse hunting on my bicycle, backpacking, hiking, photography and so much more.
Coeur d’Alene has lost its historic sense of quaintness. Replaced with parking garages, high rises and a diminished downtown district.
So long City by the Lake!
Respectfully,
DAVID HOPKINS
