3rd Avenue Marketplace starts community garden, hosts planting day

POST FALLS — The 3rd Avenue Marketplace has officially launched a brand-new community garden program dedicated to growing fresh food at the Rick Noordam Community Garden.

The marketplace is hosting a Community Planting Day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and is asking people to bring veggie starts to help fill their garden beds.

The gardening program is working to revitalize 14 existing planter beds and add 14 more.

The garden is at 1115 Third Ave., across from Black Bay Park.

The 3rd Avenue Marketplace garden is a partnership with the city of Post Falls. 

All produce grown in marketplace plots will follow organic practices and support local individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
