Geraniums planted around new water feature at The Resort

The new water feature outside the front doors of The Coeur d’Alene Resort is visually stunning. 

The numbers behind it are equally impressive. 

Try 16,000 gallons of water; two five-horsepower pumps pushing a total of 750 gallons per minute; three smaller pumps for filtration, circulation and heating; three fire features and 270 tons of stone. 

And as of Thursday morning, you can add hundreds of deep red geraniums bordering the landscape that were planted in time for Mother’s Day. 

“The Hagadones wanted to do something special to celebrate The Resort turning 40 years old this month,” said Resort President Bill Reagan. “They really wanted to give back to the community with something that’s beautiful out front.” 

Waterfalls, driftwood and pine trees are also part of the setting created by Alderwood Landscaping that has a Northwest theme.  

The columnar basalt rocks range from 300 pounds to 11,000 tons and are sourced from just north of Walla Walla, Wash. 

Night lighting is all Wi-Fi and zoned to be able to change colors for different types of seasons and events. 

The project was years in planning and required 2,500 manhours to recently complete.

Reagan said the water feature is a beautiful addition to The Resort. 

“Everybody took pride in this and worked hard,” he said.
