'Canfield of Dreams' proposed in CDA

A proposal for an indoor baseball complex will go before the Coeur d'Alene City Council tonight.

The proposed field house referred as "Canfield of Dreams" will give Coeur d’Alene Little League and the city opportunities to expand involvement in baseball programs as well as offer a wintertime location for participants to practice, a staff report said. The facility would also include a much-needed restroom facility that would be accessible for city recreation programs.

"This partnership will provide a location for Coeur d’Alene Little League to provide for the needs of their participants, and use of the facility by our recreation division will increase income, program opportunities, and the number of families we are able to serve," a staff report said.

The council is being asked to approve a Memorandum of Understanding with Coeur d’Alene Little League to reserve property at Canfield Sports Complex, 5370 N. 15th St. for construction of the indoor baseball facility. 

The city and Coeur d’Alene Little League have a partnership dating back more than 30 years. 

The MOU will help Coeur d’Alene Little League as it begins its capital campaign fundraising, the report said.

The meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. in the Coeur d'Alene Public Library Community Room.
