Smocks give $10,000 to Young Family’s Foundation of North Idaho

Young Family’s Foundation received a $10,000 gift from Pepper and Midge Smock, owners of Windermere Coeur d’Alene Realty, on Thursday.

“Real estate is about more than transactions — it’s about families and community," Pepper Smock said. "My hope is that other real estate business owners will join us so more local families can achieve homeownership, strengthening our community.”

Young Family's Foundation helps qualified local families who are just short at closing purchase their first home.

Pat Hogan, president and cofounder of Young Family's Foundation, said the Smocks' generosity changes the future of family and community.

"Pepper and Midge understand that young families are the backbone of both our workforce and our local economy," a press release said. "When those families are unable to put down roots here, the impact reaches all of us — contributing to a smaller labor pool and fewer of the services our community relies on every day.

Young Family's Foundation leaders say the gift is not only meaningful for the families it will help but also serves as an invitation for other business and real estate leaders to get involved.
