AVISTA: Thanks for quick response after snowstorm

I heard voices early this morning while I was still in bed. Fortunately, it was the Avista line crew in my backyard restoring power. The cellphone showed 6:20 a.m.

While the line crew may not walk on water, they can walk and work on 6 inches of wet snow, climb poles and do all of this in the dark. Thanks to their skill and dedication, power is being promptly restored.

PFEF: Wine, Stein & Dine a great win for education 

The Post Falls Education Foundation would like to thank the many businesses, individuals and over 350 attendees who helped make the 29th annual Wine, Stein & Dine — Country Style fundraiser such a success again this year. The teachers and students of the Post Falls School District are very grateful for the support or our local attendees, restaurants, beverages, and Bill Bozly and Sean Owsley who entertained us all evening with great music.

Proceeds will go directly toward funding over 100 grant requests that are submitted by the district teachers and counselors for special creative classroom materials and equipment. During the past 29 years, the foundation has now raised more than $950,000 for the Post Falls classrooms.

Our terrific restaurants this year included Ekness Catering, Mangia Catering, Post Falls Schools Nutrition Services, Rob’s Seafood and Burgers, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, The Fish Folks, and the White House Grill.

This year special awards went to Rob’s Seafood & Burgers, the Friends of the Foundation Award, and Ekness Catering earned the 2029 Spirit of the Foundation Award, for their years of support and special help with the event for many years.

The Photo Booth from Epic 360 Moments is always a big hit, and we thank them for entertaining everyone all evening. Generous beverages were from Odom Distributing,

Hayden Beverage, Watson Distributing, and Post Falls Brewing who provided more than 75 different varieties of wines, microbrews, seltzers, and ciders to taste and enjoy. Over 60 businesses and individual donors contributed to the silent auction, and a crew of dozens of volunteers, who return each year, helped add to the event's success.

Special thanks to the The Kootenai County Fairgrounds staff for their help. Thank you all for supporting our students and teachers in Post Falls.
