TRUMP: Congress must act
Senators Risch and Crapo,
Since President Trump was sworn in January 2025, he has ordered two unprovoked and poorly planned attacks on independent states Venezuela and Iran; threatened to annex Greenland and Canada; and is now threatening Cuba. He has strained our traditional alliances with Europe and NATO while undermining the United Nations. Just a few months ago, he rattled international trade with sweeping global tariffs that have been declared unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court.
Trump in all his royal arrogance has said recently, “I am constrained only by my own morality.” Within the past few days, President Trump — a draft dodger, while the rest of us served in Vietnam — had these words to say about the Iranians: “Watch what happens to these deranged scumbags today. They have been killing innocent people all over the world for 47 years. Now I, as the 47th president of the United States of America am killing them. What a great honor to do so.”
Senators, the president needs Congress to constrain his “one man band” approach to leading our proud democracy.
Respectfully submitted,
