ALLIES: Lack of support no surprise

We should not be surprised that our friends and allies have declined to join efforts to ensure free passage of ships in the Gulf. After all, in the recent past our leaders have done little other than threaten, belittle and penalize these same countries. Damaged trust has consequences. You can’t summon others to a war they didn’t want, for reasons they don’t understand, whose onset caught them by surprise, whose goals seem to shift over time, and where unfolding events seem to be a surprise, and expect unwavering support.  

“If you wish to go fast, go alone; If you wish to go far, go with others” is an old and true adage we seem to have overlooked and which we would be wise to heed.
