LCC & LCMoW: Community appreciation and gratitude

Lake City Center and Lake City Meals on Wheels would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the organizations and community partners whose generosity helps us continue serving older adults in our community.

We are especially grateful to the City of Coeur d'Alene for their $20,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), which supports important services that help seniors remain healthy, independent, and connected.

We also want to thank the following generous supporters: UnitedHealthcare – $7,500 donation; Motes Family Fund – $2,000 donation; UnitedHealthcare Services, Inc. – $1,500 donation; Lutheran Church of the Master Women – $1,000 donation; James Mark Whittlesey Charitable Fund – $500 donation; Avista Foundation – $400 donation; Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary – $300 donation.

Your support helps strengthen the mission of Lake City Center and Lake City Meals on Wheels, ensuring that seniors in our community continue to receive nutritious meals, programs, and opportunities for connection.

FISH AND GAME: Otter-ly grateful for assistance

Idaho's Fish and Game Department has helpful resources that area residents may not be aware of. Recently, I had the opportunity to speak to local young children and turned to F&G for help. The topic was river otters, and I had searched fruitlessly to acquire an otter pelt I could use as a show and tell.

A volunteer named Heidi cheerfully let me know I could stop by and pick up an otter pelt for the kids to feel their amazing dense and soft fur. When I arrived, she had also taken the time to print out information sheets on the river otter for me to use in my presentation, the pelt was nicely packaged in a zippered pouch, and it was delivered with a smile.

When I returned the pelt today, the staff were again kind and attentive and engaged with a smile.

What a refreshing change from the drifting customer service levels we often experience today. And how truly satisfying it is that a branch of our Idaho State government delivered this level of customer service experience. So, to the Regional Supervisor, Carson Watkins, thanks for staffing with kind people who deliver quality service to the public. And a heartfelt thank you to the staff at our local office for the courtesy and advice. .

STRANGER: Thanks for hand after slip

I want to thank the wonderful lady who saw me slip and fall on the ice this morning (March 10). She parked her car and rushed to help me.

I did not get her name, but I appreciate that she took the time to make sure I was OK. We have wonderful people in this town that care about others and this was no exception. Thank you so much. Thankfully I don't have any broken bones or even bruises, just a little soreness.
