SHORT-TERM RENTALS: Woe is Coeur d’Alene
In Saturday’s paper, Lynn Fleming of the Planning and Zoning Commission (our “planners”) bemoans that Coeur d’Alene “is becoming a large hotel with house keys throughout our residential blocks that hold no voters, no school children and no local citizens.“ She claims STR‘s are “a corporate taking by short term rental companies.“ Baloney.
Tourism was going to save us from the loss of our logging industry. Pushing tourism on Coeur d’Alene was the Hagadone solution for the past 40 years, with everybody and their brother (including the Coeur d’Alene Press), celebrating every large event brought to town. Private property owners took advantage of the success of tourism and now some complain? More baloney.
You wanted it? You got it.
