Author to present on Arctic rescue

The Coeur d’Alene Public Library welcomes National Outdoor Book Award-winning author Buddy Levy for an evening exploring humanity’s enduring fascination with the far North.

Levy will present on his newest book, "Realm of Ice and Sky: Triumph, Tragedy, and History’s Greatest Arctic Rescue," guiding audiences through the bold era of early 20th‑century polar exploration.

The presentation is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday in the Community Room

In his presentation “The Lure of the Arctic,” Levy traces the dramatic stories of explorers who pushed into the unknown as they shifted from traditional dog sleds to experimental hydrogen‑filled airships. 

His extensive field research in the high Arctic offers attendees a vivid look into the extreme conditions, rivalries and relentless human drive that shaped this extraordinary chapter of exploration history.

Buddy Levy is the author of nine nonfiction books, and his work has been featured or reviewed in outlets such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, USA Today and The Washington Post. 

His newest work "continues his signature approach to adventure history, blending meticulous research with compelling narrative to illuminate the triumphs and tragedies of some of the most daring expeditions ever undertaken."
