Man wants more defibrillators for first responders

With the end in sight for his goal of raising $3,000 to buy defibrillators for the Timberlake Fire Department, David Davis is creating an organization to further that cause for other first responders.

“Rapid defibrillation is one of the most effective interventions during sudden cardiac arrest, and equipping firefighters with modern AED devices strengthens emergency readiness across the region,” Davis said.  

Davis started a GoFundMe campaign to equip the Timberlake Fire Protection District with more defibrillators after his wife, Cynthia Davis, had a life-threatening medical event and needed continuous CPR. 

His new group, the Idaho 10-33 Foundation, refers to the radio code first responders use when they are in distress. Davis recently registered his organization with the state and is pursuing nonprofit status.  

“Through community partnerships, fundraising initiatives and grant development, the foundation helps ensure emergency personnel have the tools they need when seconds matter most,” Davis said. 

The Idaho 10-33 Foundation is “dedicated to strengthening public safety by providing critical equipment and resources to Idaho’s first responders, with a focus on volunteer and rural agencies.” 

Iron Pizza Company partnered with Davis to support the Timberlake Fire Protection District and is hosting a fundraiser from 4 p.m. to closing Thursday, March 19, at 29801 N Old Hwy 95, Athol. There will be a silent auction, and a portion of food sales will be donated to the AED fundraising initiative. 

As of Friday, the GoFundMe campaign had raised $2,200.
