Memorial for firefighters on Monday at McEuen Park

Kootenai County Fire & Rescue and the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department will honor their brothers with a remembrance ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday at the Avista Pavilion at McEuen Park.

The public is welcome.

"Personnel from both fire departments and their families will be remembering our lost brothers, friends, and mentors, John G. Morrison and Frank J. Harwood," a press release said.

Morrison, with Coeur d'Alene Fire, and Harwood, with KCFR, were slain in the ambush attack June 29, 2025, on Canfield Mountain. David Tysdal, a Coeur d'Alene firefighter, was seriously wounded. He has since retired.

"We would like to provide the community with an opportunity to pay their respects, and to allow the fire service community a chance to give our thanks to all those that have supported us through this horrible incident," a release said. "Our community showed up for us in an extraordinary way last year, and we are deeply grateful."
