Spirit Lake man dies in crash

A Spirit Lake resident died in a crash late Friday.

According to the Idaho State Police, a 35-year-old man was riding an electrically assisted bicycle near milepost 20 on Highway 41 about 8:30 when he lost control on the right shoulder and was thrown from the bicycle.

Lifesaving efforts were made on scene by fire personnel, but the man died of his injuries, ISP said.

The bicyclist was wearing a helmet.

The highway was blocked for about three hours. 

An investigation continues.
