Post Falls Lions Club plans for Brewfest on Saturday

It’s time to raise your glass for a cause on Saturday. The Post Falls Lions Club has brought back Brewfest for the fourth year.
Assemble your crew and browse brews from 10 different breweries and one cider house from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 27 at 1138 Poleline Ave., Post Falls. Only participants age 21 and over are allowed to participate.
Post Falls Lions Club President Ted Macaulay couldn’t contain his excitement about the Post Falls festival.
“Ours is the best in all the land, it’s all local North Idaho breweries,” Macaulay said. “We encourage you try beers that you might not normally try because your one ticket gets you unlimited tastings.”
This year’s event will be packed with local beers such as Trails End, Vantage Point Brewing or Westwood Brewing Co. to taste, flavorful food to snack on and live entertainment at the Post Falls American Legion Post 143.
“Food is included and that’s what sets us apart. We provide sausage, cheese and pretzels in your admission, so you don’t need to bring money to buy a sandwich or nachos,” Macaulay said.
Last year’s event had about 250 people attend and raised $4,000 for student scholarships and local nonprofits.
Funds help support 3rd Avenue Marketplace and White Cane Day programming for the blind and visually impaired.
“All the money that we raise goes back into our community,” Macaulay said.
In the next year, the Post Falls Lions Club hopes to raise enough to host a vision testing event for the community.
“It’s very cool when you can identify a kindergartener’s reason why they may have trouble reading is his eyesight’s bad, but he didn’t know it. You find out that he can’t see what the teacher’s writing on the board,” Macaulay said.
Other community projects include a quarterly road cleanup and adding grass to the American Legion Post property.
This year, the Lions Club purchased 400 glasses for participants.
“It’s still growing,” Macaulay said. “If you went last year and invite a friend already, that's double. It tends to grow exponentially.”
