Wildfire north of Bonners Ferry causing smoke in Coeur d’Alene

A new wildfire breaking out north of Bonners Ferry is causing smoke in the Coeur d'Alene area, according to the National Weather Service.
Spokane-based meteorologist Miranda Cote told the Coeur d’Alene Press on Thursday morning that the wildfire started shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday. The fire is coming from Turner Hill Road about 8 miles north of Bonners Ferry.
According to Watch Duty, which provides online wildfire updates across the U.S., the wildfire has reached 250 acres. A “Go Level 3” evacuation order has been placed for multiple areas near the wildfire. This includes the 3000 block of Turner Hill Road East to Highway 95 as well as all side roads, as well as Kings Row, Fleming Creek, Fawn Lane and any side roads near those areas.
All residents on Holes Road as well as all side roads are also under evacuation notices.
Air quality in the Coeur d’Alene region is currently 56 AQI, or “poor,” according to AccuWeather.com.
“The air has reached a high level of pollution and is unhealthy for sensitive groups,” the website states. “Reduce time spent outside if you are feeling symptoms such as difficulty breathing or throat irritation.”
Air quality in the Coeur d’Alene region is expected to remain poor into Friday.
