In loving memory of Peggy Cecil.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Peggy, whose love, strength, and kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Melvin Caywood; her mother, Ellen May Morris; several of her siblings; her husband, Fred Cecil; and her son, Freddie Jr. Dean Cecil. She is survived by her brother, Ron (Linda); her two sisters, Dorothy and Pat (Jim); her three children, Drue Cecil (Will, Heather and Wyatt), Liz Cecil (Cody and Amanda) and Sid Cecil (Karen) (Freddie and Connor). She is also survived by her 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Above all else, Peggy cherished her family. She was the heart of every gathering, always welcoming loved ones with open arms, a warm smile, and a listening ear. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone she considered family. She taught us the importance of loyalty, love, and standing by one another through every season of life.
For more than 20 years, she faithfully volunteered with her community search and rescue team, always willing to help those in need. She dedicated countless hours serving others with courage, compassion and an unwavering sense of duty. Her selfless commitment touched many lives and made her community a safer place.
A proud lover of Texas, Peggy embraced everything the Lone Star State represented. She loved its wide open skies, rich traditions, country spirit, and the values of hard work and hospitality. Texas wasn't just where she was born — it was part of who she was.
Her love for horses was another defining part of her life. She found peace and happiness in their company, admiring their beauty, strength, and freedom. Whether caring for them, riding, or simply watching them graze, her connection to horses reflected her own gentle yet resilient spirit.
Peggy leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, treasured memories, and values that will continue to guide her family for generations to come. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing her love will remain with us always.
She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and endlessly loved.
Peggy’s service will be held Aug. 8, 2026, at 1 p.m. at New Life Church, 6068 Hayden Ave, Rathdrum, ID.
