Wildfire near Worley prompts evacuations, threatens structures

WORLEY — Firefighters with the Idaho Department of Lands are battling a rapidly spreading wildfire north of Worley that is reportedly threatening several structures in the Rockford Bay area, officials said.

The fire was reported Friday afternoon, near U.S. 95 and Sun Up Bay Road in the Rockford Bay region. Authorities have not released an estimated size for the blaze, but multiple reports indicate it is spreading quickly through surrounding vegetation.

The Kootenai Office of Emergency Management has issued a Go Now evacuation order for residents on West Sun Up Bay Road and Vogel Road east of U.S. 95.

Emergency officials have urged residents in the affected area to leave immediately and follow directions from first responders.

No injuries or damaged structures have been reported as of Friday, and the cause of the fire has not been released.
