Jerry Richard 'J.R.' Johnson II, 46

| July 7, 2026 1:00 AM

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jerry Richard Johnson II, known to his friends and family as J.R., of Graham, Wash., on June 27, 2026. He was 46 years old.

J.R. was born July 11, 1979, at RAF Lakenheath, England, to Jerry and Dang Johnson. He was raised in Rathdrum, Idaho, where he attended Lakeland High School and played basketball and soccer. As a young man, he served as an altar boy at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. In 1998, he moved to Buckley, Wash., where he learned his trade in construction and carpentry.

On July 31, 2010, J.R. married Crystal Richey. The couple settled in Graham, Wash., where J.R. continued his career in construction and, more importantly, built a life centered on the people he loved. He was very well respected in the construction industry.

Above all else, J.R. loved his family. He also loved Thai food and enjoyed spending time fishing — but those who knew him best knew that nothing mattered more to him than the ones he held close.

J.R. is survived by his wife, Crystal, and their three children, Cowen, Cami and Carter, of the family home in Graham; and by his father, Jerry Richard Johnson, of Hayden, Idaho. He was also dearly loved by his many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dang Johnson.

A celebration of J.R.'s life will be held Saturday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rathdrum, Idaho, followed by a catered luncheon at Rathdrum City Park.
