NOISE: Always been part of downtown

| July 5, 2026 1:00 AM

I don’t remember so much complaining about downtown noise up until the last five years. Which leads me to believe the majority of the complaining is most likely not longtime locals.

What did you all expect? Everyone encouraged everyone else on the map to move here, and so they have. Did you think it would make it quieter? I would think simply trying to drive from point A to point B, while dodging the idiots that don’t have a clue how to drive would be a more legitimate gripe from locals.

Downtown has always been noisy. Before buying your high rise, maybe do some research first and decide if that beautiful lake view is worth the rest of the racket that is and has always been downtown. Conforming to the transplant’s ideology isn’t our priority, nor is changing the events that are part of growing up here.

Don’t want noise, don’t live downtown. Of course, that means sacrificing that lake life status bragging. Or simply invest in ear plugs. Much cheaper than all other ideas on the table.
