AMERICA AT 250: Dreams vs. entitlement

America’s 250th birthday is soon upon us. I’ve lived for over one-third of those years, and I am so thankful America has always been my home. 

Our success as a nation was based on Christian principles, love of country and a “get ‘er done” attitude and work ethic. For these reasons America has become the greatest nation the world has ever known. From the ingenuity and steadfastness of those who simply had a dream and the freedom to pursue it, Capitalism has given Americans success and a better life regardless of their social or economic background.

In America, a dream can become reality, and you really can soar with the eagles — multitudes can attest to the benefits of hard work in their own stories of success. But something evil and sinister is sweeping across America — millions have their hands out, wanting the efforts of others to satisfy their every need (and many wants). Empty promises of free stuff are heard throughout the land. The words “entitlement” and “equity for all” pour from the lips of politicians using other people’s money to fulfill their promises. 

Look no further than NYC Mayor Mamdani, a Muslim communist, who is passionately supported by millions of democrats. Ronald Reagan once said that we are but one generation away from extinction. The freedom we have enjoyed for 250 years, a shining light on a hill, will most likely be snuffed out and the American dream will become “just a dream.” 

May I suggest for those of you who hate our beloved America — it really is fine to take a one-way trip to anywhere you think is better. America, please bless God.
