Department of Education announces Idaho Reading Indicator fall results
Results from the first administration of Idaho’s new Reading Indicator show strong performance among third-grade students while establishing a new statewide baseline as students and educators adjust to a more rigorous assessment, the Idaho Department of Education announced Friday.
The Idaho Reading Indicator measures early literacy skills in phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension for students in kindergarten through third grade each fall and spring. The IDE selected the new assessment after the previous vendor contract expired in 2024. Istation, now known as Amira Learning, was chosen following a request for proposal process during which the department sought bids from various companies ahead of the contract expiration.
