County eyes marine damage repairs
The dock at Gould’s Landing is getting replaced a little earlier than the Kootenai County Parks and Waterways Department anticipated.
The Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved emergency repairs in late December after damage to the dock on Lake Coeur d’Alene took it beyond its “useful life expectancy.”
“We had significant damage as a result of the windstorm, so we have to get some marine contractors in there,” said Kootenai County Parks and Waterways Director Nick Snyder.
Wind speeds recorded at the Coeur d’Alene Airport indicated gusts reaching up to 66 mph at the height of the storm Dec. 17.
Snyder said they plan to install a new dock before the start of boating season.
Because of the emergency classification, county officials can move forward without complying with the formal bidding requirements.
