SWAT arrests Spokane man near Post Falls
A Spokane man was arrested late Saturday following a family dispute near Post Falls.
Tristan C. Evans, 28, was charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping and obstructing a peace officer, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office.
A press release said KCSO deputies responded to a report of a family disturbance involving a firearm in the 6000 block of E. Maplewood Avenue about 10:30 p.m. Deputies learned the suspect had recently been released from prison and was experiencing a mental health crisis.
"Inside the residence, the suspect allegedly threatened family members with a crowbar and prevented them from leaving," the release said.
Family members were eventually able to escape the residence and call 911. They also reported the suspect had access to loaded firearms inside the home.
The suspect refused to come out, so the KCSO/Coeur d’Alene Police Department Joint SWAT Team responded.
"After the deployment of distraction devices, the suspect surrendered," the release said.
