Overdose death leads to 5 arrests

A fatal drug overdose led to five arrests at a transitional home for individuals on state probation near Post Falls.

A Kootenai County Sheriff's Office press release Friday said that on Feb. 22, deputies responded to a reported overdose in the 1800 block of North Cecil Road and found a deceased 50-year-old male probationer.

The preliminary cause of death is a suspected drug overdose, the release said.

On Thursday, detectives with the KCSO Special Investigations Unit, officers with the Coeur d'Alene Police Community Action Team and agents with Idaho State Probation and Parole conducted compliance checks at the same residence and at a second transitional home in the 1700 block of North Cecil Road.

During the checks, investigators found methamphetamine, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. Several probationers also tested positive for the presence of illegal substances, the release said.

According to the press release, those arrested were Robert F. Mills, 48, possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, and probation violation; Christopher A. Kemper, 42, probation violation; Isaac Gonzalez, 39, failure to appear (original charge: possession of stolen property); Jorge A. Cozar, 25, probation violation; and Sannon A. Moore, 28, probation violation.

An investigation continues.
