Art Spirit to bid community farewell Friday

| February 12, 2026 1:00 AM

The Art Spirit Gallery is inviting the public to its final sale and community gathering during ArtWalk from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

"For 30 years, you have been our family: artists, collectors, neighbors and friends who have filled this space with creation, conversation and care," Art Spirit owners said in a news release. "We are profoundly grateful for every memory and every moment shared."

As the gallery prepares to close, it will serve as both archive and altar through two interconnected installations by Lisa Koep.

At the center of the space, "The Spirit of Our Art" is a 5-foot circular community altar featuring images of artwork from original reception cards spanning three decades of exhibitions. Radiating outward from the gallery’s logo and surrounded by 12 candles, the altar honors the artists, stewards, staff and community who shaped Art Spirit’s legacy. Visitors can engage with the altar by offering a memory, note, symbol, flower or financial contribution in support of the gallery.

Surrounding the room, "Our Art in Time" transforms the gallery walls into a 30-year timeline made from the art reception cards, punctuated by candle imagery that turns the entire space into a living altar. Together, these installations offer a collective act of remembrance, gratitude and blessing, honoring what was created and the community that made it possible.

The Art Spirit Gallery is at 415 E. Sherman Ave., Coeur d'Alene.
