A Coeur d'Alene man was sentenced to prison on Thursday for attempted strangulation and probation violation.
Michael Adam Bounds, 49, was previously convicted of attempted strangulation stemming from an incident Dec. 29 when he choked a woman following a verbal altercation, according to the Kootenai County Prosecutor's Office.
Bounds was on felony probation for possession of a controlled substance at the time of the incident.
His criminal history spans more than 30 years and includes convictions for theft, possession of stolen property, trespass, harassment, forgery, criminal impersonation, unlawful possession of a firearm, interference with reporting domestic violence, assault, possession of a stolen firearm, DUI, unlawful use of bank checks, malicious mischief, possession of a stolen vehicle and trafficking stolen property, a press release said.
District Judge Barry McHugh sentenced Bounds to prison for 14 years with parole eligibility after four years in the attempted strangulation case, revoked Bounds’ probation and imposed the sentence in the probation case.
