CDA: Taxes for property owners
It has become increasingly frustrating as a homeowner to see the city of Coeur d’Alene continue to hold homeowners solely responsible and taxed for everyone who enjoys our beautiful city. Why is the city not using the best taxable resource available? Every person that comes into Coeur d’Alene who uses or makes a purchase should be contributing via a sales tax to cover fire, police, EMT, city employees and much more.
The city where I come from instituted a 0.25-0.5% sales tax and has done amazing things, including three new schools. That sales tax was instituted to prevent the same reason Coeur d’Alene keeps raising property taxes on homeowners. They have a policy of lower property taxes on senior citizens who own homes after 65 years of age.
I say to the bureaucratic leadership of Cd’A, where are your gumptions to start taxing and enforcing usage fees for the tourists and travelers who use our city amenities. Step up and lead Cd’A in the right direction instead of increasing our property taxes yearly.
